"If I Die Tonight" ©
By Mychal Joyner

I've been holding it in
but it's something I have to say,
God forbid that you should somehow happen to pass away.
If so, would you be there to greet me when I pass the gates?
If not than maybe you could just meet me half the way,
because I'm lost without you if it's even half a day,
don't know if I'll make it to heaven so I have to pray,
that I won't slip away in my sleep at night,
fools die young,
I'm trying to make my pathways right.

If I should happen to go,
my situation is lame,
for I'm left without even a seed to carry my name.

I was smart,
even a prodigy,
what's left of my accomplishments are only bitter apologies,
for a life that seems like some crumbs that spilled.
I should've made you my wife,
but left you unfulfilled.

I can't wait,
'cause heaven is not heaven if you're not there.
Live without you for one moment,
I can't, I swear.
Should we be separated by death,
still you're never too far,
I'd give the angels back their wings and come to where ever you are,

If I Die ...
... Tonight
