Hello, my name is Bobby Davenport, I'm a 26 year old incarcerated male in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I've spent a total of 7½ years of my life locked up, for hangin' around the wrong crowd, and feel that I'm probably to blame for gettin' some others to involve themselves in the same life style I chose.

When I was young, growing up in Tyler, Texas there wasn't much to do, or so I thought. So I ended up gettin' into a gang, some drugs and just partyin' everyday, and actually it didn't seem too bad back then, but now I see it all led to gettin' caught up in this robbery charge. From hangin' out with the wrong crowd, I ended up being present at a robbery of some individuals. I didn't actually participate in the robbery, but mere presence alone was enough to be charged and found guilty. Now here I am. The prison classification board doesn't consider your involvement in the crime, only the fact that you are a felon. So you end up on a unit with murderers, rapists and plenty of gangs. Once your here it's up to you to rehabilitate yourself, parole board just wants to make sure you do plenty of your time.

Well anyways, after doing my first couple years fighting and fuckin' up I finally got to a unit where you can concentrate on yourself, other than what's going on around you. I feel like I have made a turn around for the best, and am ready to go home, but I can't, I'm stuck for at least a few more years to even be considered for parole, and even then it's not guaranteed.

I know how easy it is to get caught up out there, but I also understand that it isn't two hard to stay out of shit wither, and believe me it's a whole lot easier life. Being away from your family and worryin' about them is enough alone to stay out of trouble believe me! So if you are headed down the wrong path please reconsider, it isn't worth it!
